April 2 -11, Peru Mission Trip:

What an amazing trip this was!  We worked in the village of Hauchac, where we had visited back in November. After meeting with the Mayor and school officials, work began. We started with a prayer walk, pairing up with members of the Huancayo Church. We presented a school program and took individual photos of each child, approx. 500. These were developed and matted and given to the children on Friday during the family festival. Bible School was held during the afternoons with games, Bible Stories, coloring/activity pages and crafts. When evening came , Adult Bible study began and movies for the kids. The first night only six adults attended the Bible study as most adults wanted to watch the movie. This was something that they did not get a chance to see very often. However, Steve shared in the Bible Study and 5 of the six attending accepted Christ and the other one accepted Him later that week. On Thursday night, 9 people were saved , then on Friday night after the movie ‘Facing the Giants’, 11 young people were saved. A total of 25 for the week. A church member from the Christian Alliance Church in Hauncayo, Freddy, agreed to go to Hauchac every week for continued Bible Study. We took enough material for several months. This is the start of a new church growth. We are very excited about what God is doing in this village. In the mornings,We were able to walk up into the hills and visit homes and pass out Bibles which was a tremendous experience. Being able to stay in a local house, owned by Telisforo, a government official, who accepted Christ, we got the chance to spend more time with the people. During the festival on Friday, the clown group from Huancayo came out and performed a skit which everyone enjoyed, and we also were able to provide a wheelchair for a ten year old girl who was crippled from birth. Her mother had been carrying her everywhere. What a blessing! The Mayor presented us with a gift that night as well. In the government building there were rooms upstairs that were empty. They are preparing that space for us to stay in when we go back to Peru. This is a very special gift, realize this is a government building and we are a Christian group. God is so good! What a break through in a predominately Catholic area. We all feel very strongly that from this area many people are going to have the opportunity to come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We plan to work again in this area in July to help get the new church established. Praise God. Please pray for those new Christians and those who are leading them.
